FAQ - Fragen und Antworten

General & Care

Origin: The origin of LONGTIME HAIR real hair extensions is in India and the surrounding regions.

Processing: Gentle whitening over several weeks. Then dye the hair with textile dye.

Sorting: Removal of darker remaining hair for maximum color purity.

Mixing the hair: The hair is mixed together in natural color gradations, so the LONGTIME HAIR strands receive an absolutely natural color for perfect transitions to your own hair.

Technique adjustment: Bonding strands receive their typical keratin connection points. Tapes have the characteristic adhesive strip. Wefts are machine-sewn in one piece with one thread.

What is REMI? Remi means that the cuticle layer, like your own hair, is aligned in the natural direction of growth. The cuticle is directed downwards to avoid matting and knotting when combing.

- the color should always be determined based on the lengths and tips (except for ponytails) and never based on the roots, as the transition area is exactly where the lengths and tips of your own hair rest on the extensions

- It is always necessary to incorporate all colors of your own hair. It is important,

to put these in the right proportion

- you tend to choose colors based solely on your personal taste and don't take your own color into account enough. As a result, the hair extensions then look very unnatural

- We recommend having your desired hair color created in advance and only then determining the extension color, as the color result can often differ from your desired color and the previously selected colors no longer match exactly

- Slight color gradations can also be seen on undyed/very dark hair (except black). Here too, it is advisable to use every color gradation when selecting the extensions in order to achieve a natural look.

25 bondings/5 sandwiches,50 bondings/10 sandwiches,75 bondings/15 sandwiches

The amount of extensions required depends on the desired length, method and the nature of your own hair. The longer your own hair and the thinner the tips, the fewer extensions you need. With full lengths and tips of your own hair, you need more extensions so that you don't have an edge in the transition area. In this case, you should thin out the client's tips a little. Basically the recommended amount is for

Tapes: for fine hair between 20-40 sandwiches and for thick hair between 40-80 sandwiches.

Bondings: between 75-125 strands for fine hair and between 125-200 strands for thick hair.

Wefts: for fine hair 1 package of 100g each and for thick hair 2 packages of 100g each.

Clip-ins: for fine hair 1 set of 130g each and for thick hair up to 2 sets of 130g each.

What's important is that your own amount of hair should also be reflected in the extended part. You also have to keep in mind that fullness is lost through the adjustment cut and a little more extensions should always be used so that you don't end up with thin lengths and tips.

Tapes: A line is placed in a modular system from ear to ear. Depending on the width of the head, approx. 10-12 sandwiches are required. With two rows you need approx. 20-24 sandwiches.

The hair is then shortened to your own hair length.

Bondings: Individual strands are placed in a row system from ear to ear. Depending on the width of your head, approx. 25-40 strands are required. For two rows you need approx. 50-80 strands. The hair is then shortened to your own hair length.

Wefts: The 1m weft is placed in a row system from ear to ear and adjusted depending on the width of the head. A maximum of one package is required for this.

Clip Ins: The wefts of different lengths are used in a row system from ear to ear and as required. A maximum of one package is required for this.

Regardless of the bond or tape application, the hair should be cleaned twice in advance with the LONGTIME HAIR Peeling Shampoo. Remaining residue at the roots can mean that the keratin or glue does not bond properly with your own hair and the strands can slip down.

We recommend avoiding the lengths and ends as much as possible when shampooing.

Peeling shampoos have a degreasing effect and the hair is no longer supple. Therefore, after application, it is recommended to use a spray treatment or a hair tip oil, in lengths and tips, to restore suppleness and moisture to the hair.

In any case, a silicone-free extension shampoo should be used to prevent the hair strands from slipping from the roots. After each hair wash, a rich hair treatment should be applied (5-15 min *EWZ). The hair treatment must under no circumstances reach the roots in order to avoid the strands of hair slipping down. After washing, it is advisable to use a hair tip oil on towel-dried hair to keep the hair supple. For a long-lasting, supple feeling, it is recommended to use a hair treatment 2-3 times a week. If you wash your hair and don't use a hair treatment, the suppleness decreases and the moisture content in the hair is lost. The hair becomes dry, brittle, split ends and can break. We recommend the LONGTIME HAIR care series.

Tip: If you want to increase the care effect of the hair treatment even further, we recommend adding 2-5 drops of LONGTIME HAIR argan oil to the hair treatment and leaving it to work for 15 minutes. *EWZ = exposure time

We recommend a wearing time of 5-6 months for permanent extensions. After a maximum of 6-8 weeks, these should be raised in order not to damage your own hair and to avoid the roots of the extensions being visible.

Every person has a natural hair loss of 60-100 hairs per day. The maximum growth time for your own hair is 5 years. The hair then falls out and the hair root rests for 4 weeks.

This means that at the end of the wearing period you no longer have as much of your own hair in the extensions as at the beginning. For this reason, the remaining hair of your own suffers from the weight of the extensions and could fall out if you exceed the maximum wearing time.

Permanent extensions can be used a maximum of 3 times, i.e. insert them once when they are brand new and then twice after 6-8 weeks. You should not use the tapes more often than recommended, as the fullness and quality of the hair is no longer guaranteed after this period of time as it was at the beginning.

The wearing time of non-permanent extensions depends on the frequency, care and storage of them.

You can reuse the extensions twice:

For tapes:

- Carefully wet the tape with the (oily) tape remover from above between the sandwich

- To get better between the adhesive strips, you can push the handle comb between the sandwich in 2-3 places and moisten it again with solvent, so the solvent is distributed better between the two adhesive strips

- carefully, horizontally with your thumb, push the old adhesive towards the edge, never peel it off from left to right, as this will stretch the tape strips too much and the tapes can be damaged

- Clean the customer's own hair well with deep cleansing shampoo

- Tape adhesive perforated: use the re-tape sheet from bottom to top or individually, peel off the blue protective film and press the tape firmly from left to right, then pull it off the re-tape sheet and attach it to the customer's hair - You can also completely remove the strip with the protective film and stick it directly onto the tape, press it firmly and insert it

- Tape roll: unroll the roll as long as the tape is long and stick it along the tape. Then cut the strip from the tape roll at the end of the tape and press the adhesive strip firmly onto the tape. In the last step, the protruding corners of the adhesive strip should be aligned with the curve of the tape

to avoid sticking at the edge

- Press the tapes firmly together and briefly heat the base of the tapes with a hairdryer/straightener and press firmly again so that the adhesive bonds optimally

- Do not shampoo for 48 hours as this can cause the adhesive to solidify

For bonding:

- Carefully wet the bonding with the (alcoholic) bonding remover from above on/between the connection point

- Carefully press the keratin connection pure using compression pliers and help with a little more bonding remover if necessary

- Clean the customer's own hair well with deep cleansing shampoo

- Heat new keratin granules as required and as directed

- Cut off the old keratin at the roots of the extensions and at the same time immerse the strands of hair in the liquid, new keratin

- let the connection point cool briefly and shape it with a finger protector (warning: hot!)

- After all bonding strands have been renewed, heat the keratin connection with heat tongs and attach it to your own hair. Protective templates can help with this

- Do not shampoo for 48 hours as this can cause the connection to solidify

At Wefts:

- Carefully loosen the sewn hair weft using the thread and/or the micro rings that connect your own hair to the wefts (do not loosen the thread that holds the weft together here)

- Carefully pull the hair weft downwards and evenly out of your own hair

- Clean the customer's own hair well with deep cleansing shampoo

- Insert new micro rings and/or start sewing the weft back in at the customer's base

- Do not shampoo for 48 hours as this can cause the connection to solidify

Basically, BEFORE extending your hair, you should think about whether you want to wear your current hair color for the next few months. A major change after the extension is not recommended, as the connection points do not take on any color and then stand out too much in color from the rest. Also on the extension hair

No paint should get into it, as the paint could get into it and can only be removed with difficulty or not at all. On the one hand, there is a risk of gradual oxidation with the subsequent risk of hair breakage, and on the other hand, the connections are softened, which can lead to them slipping down. If the roots need to be tinted/colored/blenched, this should be done

Make sure that it does not reach the connection points. For example, only this can be done 1-2x

The top of the head should be colored and only the area underneath the 3rd time. It is always recommended to place cotton wool on the connection points to protect them.

Toning in the light to medium brown range: If the color does not match 100%, we recommend selecting the extensions a shade lighter and tinting them darker with max. 1.5-1.9% H2O2; the recipe should always be a little warmer ( Add gold & copper) are chosen because a lot of gold and copper was removed from the hair during processing in the factory, this avoids an undesirable ashy/greenish cast. Please never the full one

Choose EWZ* because the hair is more absorbent and should be checked every 5 minutes.

Experience has shown that a maximum of half of the normal EWZ* is sufficient. Since we only work with real hair, the color washes out over time and the hair becomes lighter (just like your own hair). Alternatively, you can also work with direct-draw products at home/in the salon; these are available in the form of shampoo and hair treatment, although a hair treatment with direct-draw treatments is more recommended, as the care effect is stronger than with shampoos (wear gloves!). It is advisable to first tint a test strand to see whether the dosage is the right one.

Coloring/blending: We strongly advise against coloring and/or bleaching your hair. The hair has already been lightened and tinted in the factory; coloring/blending results in the hair's structure being damaged too much and a severe loss of quality can be expected (dryness/split ends/hair breakage).

*EWZ = exposure time

Once the hair has been treated with chemical processes such as tinting/coloring/blonde

has been treated, LONGTIME HAIR's warranty is void.

Please always wash your hair in the direction it is falling and not upside down to avoid an uncomfortable feeling at the joints. Comb your hair well before washing and wash your hair with the LONGTIME HAIR care shampoo 1-2 times. It is sufficient to shampoo the roots, as the foam automatically cleanses the lengths and ends when rinsed out, meaning that the hair does not lose excessive moisture. Distribute the LONGTIME HAIR hair treatment into lengths and ends and leave it to work for at least 2-5 minutes. Then rinse the hair well. Before blow-drying, we recommend massaging the LONGTIME HAIR argan oil into the towel-dried ends and then blow-drying so that the hair is protected from drying out and is supple.

 Please only comb through your extensions once your hair has dried. When combing wet hair, the hair is over-stretched and can break.

 If you would like to air dry your hair, please only blow dry the connection points so that they do not become soft.

 When blow-drying the tapes, you should ensure that too much warm air softens the adhesive. Here we simply recommend holding on to the roots when blow-drying/combing. As soon as the connection points have cooled down, you can load them as usual

The hair must be combed from the roots at least once in the morning and once in the evening. When applying bonding, a cleaning cut must be carried out by the hairdresser at least every 4-6 weeks. Since everyone has natural hair loss of 60-100 hairs per day, the hair fixed in the bonding cannot be combed out. These linger in the bonding and can get caught in the neighboring hairs. It is advisable to gently separate connected strands with your fingers, comb them well with the brush and have the cleaning cut carried out regularly in order to maintain a comfortable wearing experience. If this is not done, the hair will become matted.

When blow-drying/smoothing, please make sure that you do not come into contact with the connection points, otherwise they will become soft and negatively affect the durability of the extensions. When using hot rollers, we recommend not opening them all the way to the base or allowing the roller to cool slightly before using.

To avoid unnecessary friction between your hair and the duvet cover, please tie your hair into a loose braid. This prevents the hair from becoming matted while sleeping.

Braids/updos at the nape of the neck are easily possible with extensions. Braids on the top of the head do not adequately cover the connection points and are therefore visible. If the wearing time (tapes = 6-8 weeks/3x, bonds = 4 months/1x) is exceeded, the connection points become more and more visible.

Please avoid contact with chlorine and salt water as the connection points will be softened, resulting in reduced durability. The hair color is also negatively affected by the chlorine and salt water (green tint to the hair). So tie your hair up before sunbathing. In many countries, tap water also contains chlorine. Washing your hair every day while on vacation can cause the extensions to become lighter. Since we only work with real hair, the color is the same as with your own hair. Increased exposure to sunlight causes the extensions to become lighter.

Depending on the composition of the ingredients and dyes contained in self-tanning products, creams and oil, light extensions may become discolored because the pigments from the products are stored in the hair structure and are difficult to remove (golden brown/yellow/orange hair tips). We therefore recommend tying your hair up to prevent skin contact. LONGTIME HAIR argan oil can be used here without hesitation as it is tailored to the extensions. We also recommend tying your hair up after and during a tanning shower, otherwise the pigments can become deposited in the cuticle layer of the hair and change the color.

If you use the solarium regularly, please cover your hair as the artificial UV radiation can change the color of the hair. Also avoid contact of the extensions with perfume. The ingredients and alcohol in perfume can change the color of the hair (yellow cast, orange cast, pink cast).

Please tie a towel around your hair in advance, as the high heat (60-90 degrees) can soften the connection points and pull out the extensions if additional stress is applied, such as subsequent combing.
